General Interest

#FromFourthToFirst
At Vancouver 2010 Olympic Winter Games, he broke his leg in training the day before the race. Finished fourth, and just off the podium at Sochi 2014, a performance that just wasn't enough for him: “I was crushed after that race but when I saw my parents they were still smiling and so proud.”
At PyeongChang 2018, he won the gold medal leading to one of the most redeeming hashtags of the Olympic Winter Games: #FromFourthToFirst. (manifestosport.com)

COMEBACK
Broke his leg three times before completing a storybook return to competition in 2011/12 to win the season-opening World Cup race in Innichen/San Candido, Italy (17 December 2011), and finished the season ranked second in the world.

HELMET AUCTION
Worked together with artist Amy Dryer to design a ski helmet as part of the Creative Impact Foundation's 'Helmet for Heroes' programme. He partnered with teenager Josephine Dumonceaux, who has cystic fibrosis, with the helmet being based on her favourite movie 'Ghost Rider'. He competed in the helmet during the 2017 World Cup event in Blue Mountain, ON, before auctioning it for $1100 (CAN) in March 2017. The money raised went to concussion awareness and prevention in sport. (Info 2018)
