:

Began skiing at age five and signed up with the alpine section of CS La Plagne in France. At age 12 he gave up alpine skiing to concentrate on freestyle skiing. His parents did not force him to start high-level skiing: “It wasn't their thing. But blue door, red door… I found it a bit repetitive.” (Info 2018; parismatch.com)

:

After having tried alpine skiing, he quickly felt the need to express himself, to show his personality, and to propose new things. He was inspired by the sight of freestyle skiers performing tricks. "It was fantastic to see them flying in the air and performing crazy tricks. I loved their freedom." (Info 2018, parismatch.com)

"When I close my eyes, I think of the Olympics". (parismatch.com)

"It goes from small notes on a notebook to training sessions to try to visualize from a rather simple jump, to duplicate it or to add a rotation in any direction." (lesolympistes.com)

His coach Gregory Guenet: “We've been together for 13 years, he's always been there, he's been the biggest support of my career, in difficult times he's also been my advisor, both on and off the skis. I see him even more than my own father, he is part of my family." (parismatch.com)

General Interest

BET ON HIMSELF
In 2019, he had hit rock bottom, with poor results and far too many expenses for training and travelling: "In December 2019, when I left for Atlanta, I only had the money to buy the plane ticket, not even a hotel room. I went on an adventure, betting everything on my result. I played big because it was my last savings but I got the second place which allowed me, not to make money, but to pay back part of what I owed and to be able to continue the season." (lefigaro.fr, Feb 2021)

BEIJING 2022 EXPECTATIONS
"I have huge revenge to take, especially on PyeongChang, which has been very difficult to live with. I felt ready, in good shape, with the idea that there was something to do and I missed it. To succeed in Beijing, I have to keep my current methodology." (lefigaro.fr, Feb 2021)
