Growing up in Knittelfeld and Murau, she was always drawn to the snow, and in 1992 she received skies and poles for Christmas. "Of course, my parents had to take me out on the slopes on December 25th and it wasn't long before I was whizzing down the slopes by myself." Was racing by age six. She often looked at her uncle Klaus's World Cup and Olympic medals and thought she would like to have them at home too. (katrin-ofner.at)
Switched from Alpine skiing to ski cross in 2005 and that was her only focus after finishing third in one of her early races at Nassfeld. (katrin-ofner.at)
