Start:

The family enjoyed both winter skiing and summer activities in Kaprun, Austria (at the foot of the Kitzsteinhorn Glacier) and since they were there almost every weekend, they decided to live there permanently. At age10, he enrolled in a sports-focused school, Gymnasium Saalfelden, and was soon racing on Alpine skis for the Kaprun ski club. (redbull.com)

Reason:

At age 13, he had to decide what to focus on at the Saalfelden ski school, Skigymnasium (Alpine or freestyle), and he chose freestyle.

Training:

When he did Alpine skiing, he also went to gymnastics in Prague where he had a very good coach (Petr Novak), who taught him all the skills. ALPINE VS FREESKI
Preferred acrobatic skiing over Alpine skiing as a child because it was more fun. "I just enjoyed jumping. Adrenaline certainly played a role, too, but not just because of it. For example, in Apine skiing, there is also a lot of nervousness, which is not entirely adrenaline, but I was more stressed than from the World Cup in freeskiing. THE SWITCH QUAD CORK
Landed one of the hardest tricks in the world, not yet mastered even by the best adult riders in the world – the switch quad cork 1620 safety grab - in his second big air run at the 2021 Junior World Championships.

NATIONALITY CHANGE
Born in Prague, Czech Republic, his family spent so much time in Austria that they relocated when he was a young child. In June 2021, he changed his nationality from Czech Republic to Austria. (redbull.com; fis-ski.com)

Milestones

Won gold in the big air event at the 2020 Winter Youth Olympic Games denying USA's Kiernan Fagan a second gold at Lausanne 2020. Previously he missed out on a place on the podium in the slopestyle, in fourth.

Representing Czech Republic, he is the two-time Junior World champion in 2021, winning gold in the freeski big air and freeski slopestyle, besting silver medallist Austria's Daniel Bacher in both events.

Made his World Debut debut in 2019, and ended his 2021 season with his first top-10 finish of sixth in Kreischberg.
