General Interest

MISHINA/GALLIAMOV
Mishina/Galliamov teamed up in spring 2017. They skated in one practice group, but with different partners. When Mishina and her former partner split up, their coaches Liudmila and Nikolai Velikov suggested to them to skate together. "We realised ourselves that we could suit each other, that we can achieve good results together. We had the same coach, so we just needed to feel each other and to learn how the other one skates." (Galliamov, gazeta.ru, Dec 2019)

They won the bronze medal at the 2018 World Junior Championships in their international debut season and took the world junior title in 2019. They claimed medals in their first season at the ISU Grand Prix series 2019/20 and bronze at the ISU Grand Prix Final, but failed to qualify for the 2020 European Championships as they ranked 4th at the national championships that year.

DEBUT SUCCESS
They are the first pair skating team to win the World title on their debut since the legendary Ekaterina Gordeeva/Sergei Grinkov accomplished this in 1986.

COACHING CHANGE
They changed coaches from their long-time coaches Liudmila, Nikolai and Vasili Velikov to Artur Minchuk and Tamara Moskvina in March 2020. "It was not a quick decision. We thought about it for a long time, because it is a big step. We hesitated, because we had a good relationship with our [former] coaches and they are still good. (...) But for the results in the sport it was worth changing. (...) In the group of Tamara Nikolaevna [Moskvina] Sasha [Boikova] and Dima [Kozlovskii] are training, and it is a motivation for us to see an international high-level pair next to us." (Mishina, goldenskate.com, 9 Oct 2020) "We wanted to progress further, to be able to perform and win, to have better elements and programmes." (Galliamov, goldenskate.com, 9 Oct 2020)

COACH
Coach Tamara Moskvina is the most successful pair skating coach in the world and has coached four Russian couples to Olympic gold: Elena Valova/Oleg Vasiliev (1984), Natalia Mishkutenok/Artur Dmitriev (1992), Oksana Kazakova/Artur Dmitriev (1998), Elena Berezhnaya/Anton Sikharulidze (2002).
