General Interest

HASE/SEEGERT
They teamed up in 2014. She was a single skater with no previous pair skating experience, while he had competed with Karolin Salatzki and Vanessa Bauer at the international junior level.

COVID-19
He tested positive on COVID-19 upon arrival and was in quarantine. They missed the Olympic team event because of that.

MAKING PROGRESS
In their first season as a team in 2014/15, they debuted at the European Championships, finishing 11th. They did not compete at Euros in 2016 and finished 12th in 2017. They made a step forward at the 2019 and 2020 European Championships when they placed sixth and fifth, respectively.

Made their World Championships debut in 2017, placing 19th. They finished 13th in 2019 but missed 2018 and 2021 due to Hase being injured.

COMING BACK FROM INJURY
Hase ruptured the syndesmosis ligament in her right foot in February 2021 when practising a triple twist, had two surgeries, and was able to resume practice only in June 2021. "I ruptured the worst possible ligament in my foot. I was on crutches for six weeks and came back to the ice at the beginning of June, but at first only for 20 minutes at a time." (Pirouette Magazine, Oct 2021)

MOVE TO RUSSIA
They have been training part-time in Sochi (RUS) since summer 2021. "The training conditions are awesome. The atmosphere is super motivating. We train in the practice rink of the (Sochi 2014) Olympic Winter Games and to train there, to see the Olympic flame when we are warming up is a different level of motivation." (Hase, Pirouette Magazine, Oct 2021).

COACHING CHANGE
They changed coaches in summer 2021 and are now training part-time in Russia with Dmitri Savin. "We wanted a team that we are happy with 100 percent, and where we do not have to worry about anything in the background but can fully focus on skating...The competitors are moving forward, especially in Russia. We realised that we are falling behind in Berlin." (Hase, Pirouette Magazine, Oct 2021; Seegert, Pirouette Magazine, Oct 2021)

FORMER COACH
They were coached from 2014-21 by Romy Oesterreich (nee Kermer), the 1976 Olympic silver medallist (with Rolf Oesterreich), competing for the German Democratic Republic.
