General Interest

HOMETOWN SUPPORT FOR PYEONGCHANG 2018 OLYMPIC WINTER GAMES
One of the greatest things about the Olympic Winter Games in PyeongChang 2018 for him was having his immediate family in South Korea, which was made possible by a local crowdfunding effort in his hometown of Sarnia, Ontario, started his dad's co-worker, and raised $20,000. “That was huge. I couldn’t imagine having that moment without them. Sharing that moment in the Canada House with Mom, Dad and both of my brothers was a very special moment for me that I’ll cherish the rest of my life.” (thesarniajournal.ca, 18 May 2018)

NEW PARTNERSHIP WITH MOORE-TOWERS
When his partnership with Purdy ended following the 2014 National Championships. He teamed up with Moore-Towers, who was an accomplished pair skater, being fourth at the ISU World Figure Skating Championships 2014 and an 2014 Olympic team silver medallist. The couple needed more time to jell than they originally thought. (IFS Magazine, 24 Oct 2018)

JUNIOR SUCCESS
Competed successfully at the junior level with Margaret Purdy, winning silver at the ISU World Junior Figure Skating Championships 2013 and medals at the ISU Junior Grand Prix of Figure Skating 2011 and 2012.

COVID-19
One of the worst days of his life was in April 2020 and being one of five people standing 10 feet apart at the "funeral" of his biggest supporter, his 88-year-old grandmother Charlotte Jones, who died of COVID during an outbreak in her long-term care facility. He couldn't even console his own grieving mother with a hug. "In those times, we definitely learn the value of that human contact, the power of a hug, and being able to console somebody."
