General Interest

FROM RUSSIA TO POLAND
As the competition in Russia is too tough and she felt she had no chance to make it to major competitions, in 2018 she got in touch with the Polish Federation president at the time Marek Kaliszek, who supported the idea of her representing Poland. "In Russia, I did not have a chance anymore. I did not want to stop skating, but I wanted to show who is that little Katia that is always smiling and I want to make the spectators happy." (Athlete, 22 Oct 2021; onet.pl, 29 Sep 2021)

Won the Four National Championships in Budapest becoming the 2019 Polish national champion. However, due to the recent change of her country of representation, she was unable to compete in any ISU events until after June 2019. Became a Polish citizen in October 2019. (sport24.ru)

COVID-19
Trained in Canada in the 2019/20 season under Brian Orser (CAN) but when the pandemic hit, she returned to Poland and trained the rest of the year without a coach. In early 2021, she relocated to Italy to train under Lorenzo Magri. (Athlete, 22 Oct 2021)

DREAM COME TRUE
Felt a lot of pressure after missing to qualify an Olympic spot at the 2021 World Championships where she finished 32nd. "I was preparing six months to skate my free skating of four minutes (at the qualifying competition). It was my last chance to qualify." (Athlete, 22 Oct 2021).

When she qualified by coming second at the qualifying event in September 2021, she put her medal in the closet at home. She woke up at night and checked if the medal was still there and to assure herself that she had made it. (onet.pl, 29 Sep 2021)

FORMER COACH
Trained in Toronto under two-time Olympic silver medallist Brian Orser (CAN) in the 2019/20 season.
