July 2020: Concussion suffered when she fell and hit her head while walking on a very hot day in Montreal. Was off the ice in recovery for a month in summer 2020. “It was a really warm day one day during the summer. It was unprecedented heat, humidity. I had woken up dehydrated, hadn’t eaten anything. We went for a walk with the dogs, didn’t realize I was going to be so affected by dehydration and hunger, but then I got really lightheaded and passed out on my way into the apartment.” (olympic.nbcsports.com, 15 Jan 2021)
August 2017: Chipped bone fragments in her right ankle, the result of a training accident. Made it through the season despite the pain caused by bone chips floating around in the joint. Underwent surgery in April 2018 to remove the fragments and returned to competition in January 2019. (isu.org)
