Two-time Olympian (2010, 2014) with Team Edin, playing lead stones on both occasions. Bronze medallist at Sochi 2014, defeating China 6-4 in extra ends after scoring the tying point in the final end. The team lost to Great Britain in the semi-final 6-5, with the Brits scoring two in the last end. Finished fourth the previous Games (Vancouver 2010), losing to Switzerland 5-4 in the bronze medal game, with the Swiss securing two in 10th end.Four World Championship appearances (2007, 2011-13), winning gold in 2013 with Team Edin. They defeated Canada 8-6 in the final, with Kjaell shooting 95% from lead. The team had previously won bronze medals in 2011 and 2012.Two-time European champion from six appearances (2007, 2009-13). Won gold in his first championship with Team Edin in 2009, defeating Switzerland 6-5 in extra ends. They won their second title in 2012 more convincingly against Norway's Team Ulsrud (8-5), who they had lost to in the final the previous year 7-6.Gold medallist at the 2009 Winter Universiade, after winning bronze in 2007.

Led Team Jones to a third-place finish at the 2020 Tournament of Hearts, losing to Ontario's Team Homan in the semi-final. Helped Team Jones qualify for the Beijing 2022 Olympic Winter Games, after winning the Canadian Olympic Trials, defeating Team Fleury in extra ends.Silver medallist with Scotland's Team Smith at the 2017 European Championships in St Gallen, losing to Kjaell's former teammates at Team Edin 10-5 in the final. The team finished fifth at the PyeongChang 2018 Olympic Winter Games after losing the tiebreaker 9-5 against Switzerland's Team de Cruz.
