Husband Shawn Germain (Ice Hockey): Played professionally in Canada and the US from 2005-18, primarily in the ECHL with the Reading Royals and Ontario Reign.

Brother Mark Homan (Curling): Competed at the 2012 Canadian Mixed Championship with his sister and at the 1997 Canadian Junior Championship with his Rachel's Beijing teammate, John Morris.

Isolated with her teammate and coach for a pre-Olympic training camp in Camrose, AB. While on maternity leave, regular training encompasses five to six days per week on-ice plus off-ice training in a home gymnasium.
