Parents got him on skis when he was a youngster and he soon joined his local Jackrabbit program in Parry Sound. The exciting part was seeing the improvement year-to-year. (nordiqcanada.ca; Athlete, Jun 2021)
While juggling hockey and skiing through childhood, hockey was always the priority. It wasn’t until Grade 12 that he decided to pursue skiing and put all of his focus into racing. Unlike most other skiers, he never followed the World Cup or knew anything about the elite level of skiing for the first few years when he started racing. He really didn’t base his inspirations off of that, but just knew that he loved the sport. (nordiqcanada.ca)
