As a young child, his parents used to take him and his sister out for excursions to huts in the woods, which helped build his love for cross-country skiing. In elementary school, his class was given ski lessons, and the instructor told him that he should join the racing team. He joined the Track Attack program at 11. He had just stopped playing hockey and was looking for a new sport. He ended up loving the sport and hasn't looked back since. (Athlete, Jun 2021)
