2021: Had a difficult season beginning with consistent colds in the early winter that prevented training for a month. Ended up having to end the season for unclear reasons that led to overtraining and poor fitness after his first start at Oberstdorf 2021 (a race he did not finish). In his youth, he did many sports but realised soon, at age nine, when he won a running race for U16 boys, that his strength was in endurance sports, so continued with running and cross-country skiing. Was top elite level nationally in both 800m running and javelin throw but chose cross-country skiing when he decided to attend the ski high school in Mora. (callehalfvarsson.se, svt.se, Jan 2015)

Milestones

OLYMPIC WINTER GAMES
Has participated at Sochi 2014 and PyeongChang 2018 Olympic Winter Games, with a fourth-place finish in the team sprint together with Marcus Hellner as his best result, just a second behind the bronze medal. His best individual result was ninth in the 15km free technique race in 2018.

WORLD CHAMPIONSHIPS
Has won three medals - two silvers and one bronze - all with the men's relay team, at Lahti 2017, Falun 2015, and Val di Fiemme 2013. He has been a constant finisher in the top-10 since he debuted in 2013 but is still hunting for his first individual medal.

Competed in the sprint at the Junior World Championships of Malles 2008 (gold) and Praz de Lys Sommand 2009 (fifth).

At the U23 World Championships at Otepaa 2011 and Erzurum 2012, his best result is 12th in the sprint in 2012.

WORLD CUP
Won his first World Cup race during the Tour de Ski 2013/14 in the sprint competition in Oberhof. Has a total of three victories and 12 other podium results in the individual races. Was third in overall standings of the Tour de Ski 2015.
