PYEONGCHANG 2018 OLYMPIC WINTER GAMES
Although considered a pre-Olympic medal favourite, the International Olympic Committee (IOC) did not invite him to compete at PyeongChang 2018 due to doping suspicions. He appealed the decision to the Court of Arbitration for Sport and was declined, so he participated in the Russian Cup, created for dismissed athletes, and won the team sprint with Alexander Legkov. He did not finish his season disappearing from the World Cup circuit. The Russian Olympic Committee (ROC) defended him stating that he had not been involved with doping.
