Started to have injuries with running sports so focused on biathlon and cross-country skiing from age 13 and then chose to move away to Hovden for a ski high school focused on cross-country skiing at age 15. Has a medal of every colour at the Olympic Winter Games winning Sochi 2014 gold in the sprint, PyeongChang 2018 sprint silver and team sprint bronze.

WORLD CHAMPIONSHIPS
Ten-time World Championships medallist with five gold, one silver, and four bronze medals. Is the most medalled skier in the individual sprint event in the Championships history with five (two gold, one silver, two bronze).

Won her first silver at Oberstdorf 2021, after missing most of the season due to an unexplained illness. This was the sixth back-to-back Championships at which she won a medal.

2009 Junior World relay champion, and sprint bronze medallist.

WORLD CUP
Winner of three consecutive sprint World Cup Crystal Globes (2016-18).

With 21 World Cup sprint victories, is the second-most successful World Cup sprinter of all time, only behind compatriot Marit Bjorgen.

Shares the record of most sprint victories in a single season with Petra Majdic of Slovenia at eight victories.

Made her World Cup debut in November 2008 at the age of 18. Her first podium, a third-place finish in Dusseldorf, came a month later in only her second World Cup race.
