Born in California and living in Minnesota since age 12, his family hails from the city of Durango, Mexico, where he spent his childhood.

Has come a long way from the days when cross-country skiing was just a way to stay fit for the summer athletics season, to focus on the sport to the point of becoming a licensed FIS athlete now set on his goal of representing Mexico in the Olympic Winter Games in a relatively short time. TEAM MEXICO
Following the successful participation by German Madrazo in cross-country skiing at the PyeongChang 2018 Olympic Winter Games, who learned to ski in 12 months, to race in Korea at age 42, several Mexicans have followed his suit. At the Oberstdorf 2021 World Championships, a team of four men and one woman competed under the guidance of Madrazo, with Soto Moreno ensuring the Mexican quota place at the Beijing 2022 Olympic Winter Games.
