“Well, the ultimate goal for us is obviously qualifying for the [Beijing 2022 Olympic Winter] Games but after that, it’s got to be medalling at the Games. It’s everybody’s dream, it’s what we’re here to do. So why not aim high?”

If the team does not win a medal, Stephens wants to improve on Jamaica's best results at an Olympic Winter Games (14th in the four-man in 1994 and 27th in the two-man in 2014). (piquenewsmagazine.com, 19 Nov 2021)

General Interest

PANDEMIC TRAINING
In the early days of the Covid-19 pandemic, without access to gyms or training facilities, Stephens and Nimroy Turgott got their push training using a Mini Cooper on the streets around Peterborough, England, where Stephens lives. "It obviously doesn't go quite as fast, but you're training the same sort of muscle groups and you're building the same sort of muscle groups. Like anything, if you push something heavier than what you're supposed to push, then at the end of the day you should be able to push the real thing a lot faster."

The improvised training techniques even impressed Queen Elizabeth II on a video call with British Armed Forces stationed around the world. Stephens, a lance corporal in the Royal Air Force, disclosed that she said with a smile, "Well I suppose that's one way to train." (insidethegames.biz, 16 Jul 2020; bbc.com, 26 May 2020)
