General Interest

SURPRISE SEASON
Was supposed to spend the 2020/21 season, her second full year as a pilot, trying to maintain a top-five position in the Europe Cup. Instead, she found herself re-evaluating her goals at the World Cup level, with a bronze medal in St. Moritz and a podium at the Junior World Championships, leading to a sixth-place finish in the two-woman overall season standings. “It's absolutely crazy. We never expected that we would achieve such good results this season." (aargauerzeitung.ch, 29 Jan 2021)

CHANGING SPORTS
Unknowingly, her volleyball skills fulfilled all the criteria for bobsleigh, not least because her jumping power is so impressive. She was discovered at a multi-sport camp by bobsleigh recruiters, who didn’t hesitate to try everything to convince her to join them. She not only made the transition from brakeman to pilot after competing for less than a season, she also won the Swiss Junior Championships in 2018. "All I knew about bobsleighing was what I had seen on TV or from the film ‘Cool Runnings.' I had no idea what skill set was required to become a bob racer.” (juliusbaer.com, 19 Mar 2019)

ROOTS
Has family roots in the Dominican Republic. Grew up in the German-speaking part of Switzerland. She and her three older siblings were always encouraged to play sports by their parents. (juliusbaer.com, 19 Mar 2019)
