RETIREMENTS
Announced his retirement from bobsleigh in summer 2016 to focus on his education and his family. In December 2017, pilot Peter Rico (SUI) called him mid-week to race with him that weekend at the European Championships in Innsbruck. He pushed the sled to an eighth-place finish. He completed the 2017/18 season, including representing Switzerland at the PyeongChang 2018 Olympic Winter Games, where he finished 14th in the four-man. Then he retired again. He took up amateur cycling - but it just wasn't the same. "I wanted another sporting challenge at the highest level."

It took Badraun a year to get back into his best shape, putting back on the 20 kilograms that he had lost cycling - all while working a full-time job. In 2021, the top two Swiss pilots passed on his talents, and he began driving again on the Europe Cup level with Michael Kuonen and Switzerland-3.
