:

After competing in athletics for 10 years, she was inspired to look into other sports as a way to represent Australia at an Olympic level after watching the Rio 2016 Olympic Games and Australian Kim Brennan, who won gold in single scull. "She was a hurdler before a rower, and it made me think, ‘If she can do it, I can do it.' I thought I was limiting my skill set by focusing on athletics." (heraldsun.com.au, 12 Oct 2016; rangestrader.mailcommunity.com.au, 20 Oct 2016)

"I love the adrenaline rush of sliding down a mountain at over 100 kilometres an hour. I love driving a bobsleigh so much and training for the push start with my team. Working as part of a team is the best, and there is no better feeling of getting a great result together." (owia.org, 2021)

"The training for bobsleigh and athletics is quite similar at the basic level, but at a high level it becomes very specific. I love learning and seeing my improvement each week and that became addictive for me.” (worldathletics.org, 2022)

Due to the COVID-19 pandemic and the strict Australian quarantine regulations, she stayed in Germany after the 2020 World Cup and started training at the Wiesbaden state base in spring, where she had worked regularly with Tim Restle since summer 2018 during her European stays. General Interest

MISSING THE OLYMPIC WINTER GAMES PYEONGCHANG 2018
Her 2-woman team met the Olympic standard and were allocated a quota position for the Olympic Winter Games PyeongChang 2018 in their first full season of competition. But the team did not meet the stricter qualifying standards set by Bobsleigh Skeleton Australia, and thus were unable to compete. “We are very proud of the skill development and performances of our women’s bobsleigh squad," the organisation said. "At a time when other sporting administrations are developing concussion protocols and other procedures to protect their athletes, an Olympic track is no place for inexperienced athletes - who have not met the minimal physical standards - required to test their mettle.” (9news.com.au, 25 Jan 2018; foxsport.com.au, 26 Jan 2018)

FIRST TWO MONOBOB VICTORIES
She won the first two events in Lillehammer (2018). "I think it took the second win for it all to really sink in that I did it, not only once, but twice! I have dreamt about hearing our national anthem play as I stand on top of the podium for as long as I've been an athlete and after the first win, hearing that play, it really did give me chills and a lump in my throat. The first win was for me. All the hard work, the long hours spent training, the struggle juggling uni, work, and training, the sacrifices that you happily make as an athlete, all the sweat and tears was all worth it after that win. The second one was for all those who have stood by me and supported me through thick and thin. It took the work of a whole team to make this season a reality and I'm so grateful for those who have come on board to support me in making my dream a reality." (olympics.com.au, 12 Nov 2018)

PYEONGCHANG PREDICTION
“I went to the PyeongChang Olympics as a spectator, and it was (American Elana Meyers-Taylor) with her silver medal and I think she just said to me, ‘You’ll get one of these one day yourself.' But her saying that to me gave me such drive to be up there with her and competing with her and pushing as fast as her, and that’s what I’m doing.” (smh.com.au, 14 Jan 2022)
