"If there was one thing I believed, it was that I was meant for something in sport, to leave a legacy of some kind. My destiny lay elsewhere [than athletics], facilitated by the great foundations I’d laid as a low 10-second sprinter." (thebrakeman.org, 18 May 2020)

General Interest

WEBSITE
Runs a bobsleigh website dedicated to promoting the "monstrous push athletes of bobsleigh to give them the exposure and credit they deserve", The Brakeman. "Being a brakeman or woman is a tough job but it often goes unnoticed, and I'd like to do my bit to try and change that. The pilot gets most of the headlines because they're the ones driving the sled, but they'll all tell you that it's a team sport. We all work incredibly hard together, both on and off the ice, and there are some amazing athletes that complement the skills of the guys or girls with their hands on the D-rings." (LinkedIn; insidethegames.biz, 15 Jun 2020)

ATHLETICS
He took up athletics to improve his speed for playing football. He was due to go to the United States of America for a football scholarship, but his flight was cancelled due to the effects of an ash cloud from a volcanic eruption. He chose to remain in England and pursue athletics instead. (Info 2018)

MUSIC
Throughout secondary school, he was "all about the music" and was going to be the "greatest guitarist of all time." (pledgesports.org)

A DREAMER
“I would love to preach about taking it each race as it comes and not putting the pressure on, but I kind of thrive off it. I am somebody who puts his head in the clouds and pictures those great moments. I'm actually writing a book at the moment, it's more just a personal catharsis. I've written it as an Olympic champion, as an Olympic medallist - I'm writing it as if I've done this thing... I talk the talk in my head... but I carry myself like I'm an Olympic champion. I believe it's there for me, and I can do it. That's strong because of how much I believe in Brad and the team. I just believe it's going to happen.” (eurosport.com, 17 Jan 2022)
