Brother David Friedrich (Bobsleigh): In 2011, won the silver medal at the Junior World Championships in Francesco's sled. Crashed in a training run in Altenberg in 2005, and was in a medically-induced coma for three weeks with a serious head injury.
Sister Lucienne Friedrich (Bobsleigh): Competed as brakewoman at international level from 2009 to 2012.

March 2021: Contracted Covid-19 along with the rest of his crew at a training camp in La Plagne.
March 2019: Tore a hamstring in the first run of the four-man at the World Championships, but went on to set a speed world record in the third run en route to the gold medal.
