2016
Karlien Sleper, a former javelin thrower and current Dutch monobob pilot, encouraged her to try bobsleigh in 2015 because she was "strong and tough." They trained together in the Netherlands with Katrin Beierl - her current pilot - and then in Austria where they could utilise the push track. (thebrakeman.org, 23 Jun 2020; volkskrant.nl, 10 Jan 2021)
"I love that everyone is super professional, but nobody seems to dislike anyone. We’re all competing and want to be the best. But even when everyone is getting their game face on in warm ups, people will still goof with each other or do little handshakes and just show that camaraderie. That part for me is the most important, everyone is super competitive but also good friends still. I mean, in athletics you just hate your rivals and want to beat them so badly, and it's just not as positive a vibe as there is in bobsleigh." (thebrakeman.org, 23 Jun 2020)
Fell in love on her first descent. “I'm quite an adrenaline junkie. It felt like a roller coaster times a hundred." (volkskrant.nl, 28 Jan 2022)
To win a medal at the Beijing 2022 Olympic Winter Games. (nos.nl, 3 Feb 2021)
Winning the 2020/21 World Cup in the two-woman with pilot Katrin Beierl. "Winning the World Cup is a dream. I did not expect it to ever come true." (nos.nl, 3 Feb 2021)
