General Interest

ENGAGEMENT
Immediately after winning his two bronze medals at the PyeongChang 2018 Olympic Winter Games, he announced he would like to make an engagement ring for his girlfriend from one of his medals. Seven months after he kept his promise, proposing to his girlfriend with a ring made from his sprint bronze medal. "A unique ring for a unique woman." (tirolergoldschmied.it, Sep 2018)

CONTROVERSIAL SCENE
Racing the mixed relay anchor leg at the PyeongChang 2018 Olympic Winter Games, he cut off Germany's Arnd Peiffer's on the home straight, and snatched bronze by 0.3 seconds. A German protest was eventually rejected by the IBU, but Windisch was afraid that his reputation as "an impeccable sportsman" would be tarnished. He wrote that he was sorry that the situation happened "because you act quickly and instinctively at such moments." (focus.de, Feb 2018)
