Brother Markus Windisch (Biathlon): Two-time Olympian (2010, 2014), finishing the Sochi relay fifth, alongside Dominik. Six World Championship appearances, with one top-10 individual finish. Completed seven World Cup seasons with one win at the 2012 Oberhof relay, with Dominik in the team. Retired in 2014.

November 2020: Missed the World Cup opener in Kontiolahti after mistakenly testing positive for Covid-19.
