“From infancy, my brother and I were engaged in sports. From an early age, my parents and I were constantly at the ski lodge. Both dad and mum at that time already worked as coaches and there was no getting away from this. In the summer, my parents and I even went to training camps - they worked and we watched. So sport is in our blood." (baigenews.kz, 14 Aug 2021)

Finishing 29th at the Oberhof sprint in January 2021, his first sub-30 result. "Before the start, there was a feeling that you could compete for personal points. The start was great, but in prone he missed and earned a penalty. But when shooting while standing, everything worked out for me. Then Matvey Eliseev from the Russian national team caught up with me. They shouted to him that he was in the top six. I realised that the chance should not be missed." (caravan.kz, 21 Jan 2021)
