Mother Iryna Merkushyna (Biathlon): Finished 49th in the sprint at the Nagano 1998 Olympic Winter Games. Relay silver medallist at the 2003 World Championships, with two additional relay bronze medals at the European Championships (2001, 2002).
Sister Oleksandra Merkushyna (Biathlon): Competed at the 2021 Youth/Junior World Championships in Obertilliach, finishing 10th in the junior relay and two top-16 individual youth results. Racing IBU Junior Cup for the 2021/22 season.

Born into a sports family, her parents introduced her to skiing at an early age becoming her coach.
