January 2020: Suffered from illness. Missed most of the second half of the World Cup season. "We really did a lot of medical examinations. As a result, some nuances were revealed, but they were not critical. Most likely, it was more psychosomatics than somatic issues." (sport.tut.by, 25 Feb 2021)

General Interest

MOTTO
“Change what you can change in your life. Seek the strength to accept what you cannot change, and ask for wisdom to distinguish one from the other.” (2022 UKR media guide)

SWITCHING NATIONALITY
In 2017, she saw little chance of advancement in the Belarusian team and felt that she was not supported enough financially. There was also a conflict over the role of her long-time coach Vladimir Makhlaev. Received Ukrainian citizenship in September 2017 and trained with the Ukrainian national team from winter 2017/18, with Makhlaev continuing to accompany her as a personal supervisor.

The Belarusian association did not waive the two-year suspension, as per IBU regulations, resulting in Blashko not being allowed to compete internationally until March 2019. During this period, she successfully participated in local and national competitions in Ukraine. Debuted for Ukraine in March 2019 at the IBU Cup in Martell.

"The first year passed quickly. I did not feel it at all. Everything, probably, took place in a fog, and I did not understand a lot, did not realise. The second one was more difficult. And this does not concern preparation, but the competitive period. I looked at the races from the side and realised that I could perform well, and it was all absolutely real. To be honest, somewhere in the depths of my soul there was a hope that Belarus would suddenly lift the quarantine from me, but this did not work out." (sport.ua, 28 May 2019)

LIFE IN UKRAINE
"I live in Chernihiv and I am registered in Tetiiv. But Chernihiv is 300km closer to Novopolotsk (Belarus), where my parents live, so I live there. Although I really like both cities. In Chernihiv, most of the population speaks Russian, although I hand over my work at the National University of Physical Education and Sports in Ukrainian. This is required by the law, but for me, it is not a big deal due to my knowledge of Belarusian." (sport.ua, 26 Feb 2021)

CHILDHOOD
Trained at SDYUSHOR-2 (Specialized Children and Youth School of Olympic Reserve No. 2) in Novopolotsk, and the Vitebsk State School of Olympic Reserve in Belarus.
