November 2020: Tested positive for COVID-19 and was quarantined. Missed the first part of the season, returning in January 2021 at the Oberhof World Cup.

SANCTION
In February 2016, he was provisionally suspended by the IBU for testing positive for the prohibited substance meldonium. In September the IBU Anti-Doping Hearing Panel lifted the suspension due to the low concentration of the substance in the athlete's sample but disqualified his competitive results from 23 January to 16 February. ACCIDENT
In May 2016, he and his partner, former biathlete Snejana Tiseeva (MDA), were involved in a road accident when a car being driven by Tyshchenko hit a bump and went out of control. He suffered a concussion and minor burns, while Tiseeva sustained burns and underwent surgery. The car was engulfed in flames along with all their belongings and documents.
