Father Jyrki Ponsiluoma (Cross-country skiing): Finished eighth in the 30km at the Albertville 1992 Olympic Winter Games. Raced in the World Cup from 1988-94, achieving one top-five finish. Became a coach and sporting director at his son's club, Tullus SG

Cross-country skiing: Competed at the 2012 National Junior Championships, with a best finish of 82nd in the skiathlon.

March 2019: Sore throat and had to be treated with antibiotics prior to the World Championships in Oestersund. Missed the sprint and as a result, failed to qualify for the pursuit or mass start.
