“Biathlon is a fascinating sport, a mixture of two opposing disciplines. On the one hand, there is endurance for skiing and on the other, precision for shooting. General Interest

NATIONALITY SWITCH
After being downgraded from the French national squad, he announced in a Facebook post from June 2016, that he was aiming for Belgian citizenship. He did not want to end his career at age 24 opting to instead compete internationally for Belgium. Since the French association waived the suspension period of two years, he was able to represent Belgium from the 2017/18 season.

FATHER
His father Gilles was a carpenter and motorcycle champion, who died on a snowmobile excursion in northern Quebec in January 2020. During the days when he was thought to have been lost, Florent and Fabien competed in Pokljuka, with Fabien on the World Cup podium for the first time. Florent skipped the following races and drove to France, where the family received news of his death.

YOUTH
Attended Gerardmer high school in nordic, starting with cross-country, then switched to biathlon.
