November 2020: Contracted COVID-19 while training with the team from Latvia. Suffered from sore throat, muscle pain, fever, and his sense of smell and taste disappeared. Missed the first two stages of the World Cup season in Kontiolahti.

Started biathlon in 2000 while in fourth grade at school in Ignalina. The coach came to the school introduced the children to biathlon and invited them to training.
Initially interested in biathlon because of the possibility of shooting because both his grandfather and father were hunters.
Compete at the Beijing 2022 Olympic Winter Games. "Athletes like me, who are constantly hunting for their lucky star. Sometimes it happens that the star is hunted during the games." (tv3.lt, 28 Oct 2021)
