November 2020: Contracted COVID-19 while training with the team from Latvia. Suffered from sore throat, muscle pain, fever, and his sense of smell and taste disappeared. Missed the first two stages of the World Cup season in Kontiolahti.

Started biathlon in 2000 while in fourth grade at school in Ignalina. The coach came to the school introduced the children to biathlon and invited them to training.

Initially interested in biathlon because of the possibility of shooting because both his grandfather and father were hunters.

Milestones

Two-time Olympian (2014, 2018), he broke the Lithuanian record of Gintaras Jasinskas after finishing 13th in the pursuit at PyeongChang 2018, becoming the first Lithuanian to qualify for the mass start.

Came close to becoming the first Lithuanian to win an Olympic Winter Games medal at Sochi 2014. Placed second after the third shooting stage of the individual, he missed three shots on the final stage and ultimately fell back to 23rd.

Secured his first World Cup points at the 2013 World Championships in Novo Mesto, finishing 22nd in the sprint, and qualified him for the mass start for the first time.

Sprint silver medallist at the 2014 World Military Championships.

Five Youth/Junior World Championship appearances (2007-11). Achieved three top-10 finishes at the 2009 championships in Canmore.
