Husband Mikito Tachizaki (Cross-country skiing, biathlon): Raced in cross-country skiing at an international level before he switched to biathlon in 2011. Competed at the PyeongChang 2018 Olympic Winter Games, seven World Championships (2012, 2015-17, 2019-21), 2017 Asian Winter Games (one gold, two bronze), and the 2009 Winter Universiade (relay silver in cross-country).

Cross-country skiing: In 2004 she was ranked third in the National Junior High School Ski Tournament in the 3km free. Participated in the Inter-High for three consecutive years after entering high school.

Started cross-country skiing in elementary school. Starting doing biathlon after joining the Japan Self-Defence Forces in 2007. (Info 2018)

As a cross-country skier, she nationally ranked 10th in high school, so she felt biathlon would give her a better chance to succeed. She enjoyed biathlon because it was only freestyle cross-country skiing. She never liked the classical style. (news.jsports.co.jp, 27 Jan 2014; Info 2018)

Improved her style of running: "I found out that there is a wide range of training methods. I had a habit of putting my knees inside when running in cross-country skiing, and I thought that would not be fixed. But I can fix it, and by fixing it, I can gain propulsion" (news.jsports.co.jp, 27 Jan 2014)

Milestones

Competed at three Olympic Winter Games (2010, 2014, 2018) achieving the best results at Sochi 2014 (two top-40 individually, 12th in relay).

At 10 World Championships appearances since her debut in 2009, she has two top-20 finishes individually (2012 individual, 2015 mass start) and a best relay result of 13th in the single mixed in 2020.

She won medals at the European Championships (third in sprint in 2018 in Ridnaun) and Asian Games (silver in individual and bronze in relay in 2011, bronze in single mixed relay in 2017).

Competing in World Cup since 2009, she won her first World Cup points in the individual race in December 2009 in Oestersund.

Her best World Cup results so far are fifth in the sprint and fourth in the pursuit in March 2018 (Oslo). Her best ranking in the total score was 33rd twice (2015/16, 2017/18).
