2008
Started cross-country skiing in elementary school. Starting doing biathlon after joining the Japan Self-Defence Forces in 2007. (Info 2018)
As a cross-country skier, she nationally ranked 10th in high school, so she felt biathlon would give her a better chance to succeed. She enjoyed biathlon because it was only freestyle cross-country skiing. She never liked the classical style. (news.jsports.co.jp, 27 Jan 2014; Info 2018)
Improved her style of running: "I found out that there is a wide range of training methods. I had a habit of putting my knees inside when running in cross-country skiing, and I thought that would not be fixed. But I can fix it, and by fixing it, I can gain propulsion" (news.jsports.co.jp, 27 Jan 2014)
