Brother Luca Bormolini (Biathlon): Six seasons on the IBU Cup, with a best individual finish of sixth at the 2018 Cesana San Sicario sprint (fourth in the 2006 Ridnaun relay). Competed at four Youth/Junior World Championships. Coaches biathlon teams from Australia, New Zealand and Brazil in his hometown Livigno.
Cross-country skiing: Competes regularly in marathon races.

November 2020: Missed the World Cup opener in Kontiolahti, after being a close contact with Dominik Windisch (ITA), who mistakenly tested positive for COVID-19.
2008
First enrolled in an alpine ski club, his parents switched him to cross-country skiing at age five, as they were fearful of the descents. Began biathlon at age 13 at the encouragement of his brother. (giornaledisondrio.it, 28 Oct 2017)
"I approached biathlon mainly thanks to my brother Luca around 2005. At that time I only practised cross-country skiing but after trying to shoot out of pure curiosity I realised that I would soon change sport." (snapitaly.it, Jan 2018)
Finishing fifth in the relay at the 2017 World Championships in Hochfilzen. "The relay race at the world championships in Austria was crazy. We raced in front of 25,000 people and finished fifth, an important result for us and for the whole team."
