Wife Olga Abramova (Biathlon): Represented Ukraine at the 2015 World Championships, finishing with two top-10 individual results and fifth in the relay. Competing in her eighth World Cup season, she has three relay podiums (all third), with one individual top-10 result. Three-time gold medallist in summer biathlon. Competed for Russian Federation during the 2010/11 IBU Cup season, before a three-year break, returning with Ukraine for the 2013/14 season.
Cross-country skiing: Competed in Russian FIS and junior races during 2007, achieving three top-20 results.

Started biathlon 2008.
His father was a skiing coach and introduced him to cross-country skiing at age three in the Krasnoyarsk region of the Russian Federation. He wanted to switch to biathlon and after showing good results in cross-country skiing he was invited to Moscow to begin the sport. (sportsdaily.ru, 17 Feb 2012)
