General Interest

FUN RELAY
Since the early 2010s, he has organised an annual fun biathlon race at the end of the season in Antholz, Italy, where both experienced and inexperienced biathletes compete in randomly assigned relay teams. The race was originally planned as a celebration for his fan club but gained a larger number of participants in the years that followed.

TECHNIQUE
Instead of shouldering his rifle in both hands, he tosses it behind his back with his left hand while grabbing his sticks with his right hand. He is convinced that this technique gave him a two to three second time advantage while shooting.

TATTOOS
Has February 20, 2018, tattooed across his back, the date he won mixed relay bronze at the PyeongChang 2018 Olympic Winter Games. His back also includes dates of other important athletic successes in his career. (tirol.orf.at, Mar 2018)
