"I am from a small town. I was doing cross-country skiing and was actually quite good. There was a family friend who lived in Novosibirsk, and once he just saw me skiing and said that I should go for biathlon. But I was so fond of classic skiing and had really good technique; I couldn’t say the same about skating, which I didn’t like at all. But I discussed the whole thing with my parents and we decided that I had better move to Novosibirsk to study and to do biathlon there, which was a very good opportunity."
