Started cross-country skiing in 2001. Switched to biathlon in 2011 when she moved to Novosibirsk.

:

"I am from a small town. I was doing cross-country skiing and was actually quite good. There was a family friend who lived in Novosibirsk, and once he just saw me skiing and said that I should go for biathlon. But I was so fond of classic skiing and had really good technique; I couldn’t say the same about skating, which I didn’t like at all. But I discussed the whole thing with my parents and we decided that I had better move to Novosibirsk to study and to do biathlon there, which was a very good opportunity." General Interest

COVID-19
Tested positive for COVID-19 in May 2020. Her mother and husband also contracted the virus, but all recovered. "I woke up in the morning from chills, everything ached, went home from the gathering, went to bed, and then for two weeks my sense of smell completely disappeared." (24smi.org, 2021)

TECHNIQUE
Had a unique technique for putting away her rifle after shooting, turning it around in its axis before throwing it on her back. The IBU has since banned her technique and threatened disqualification if used during a race. "During the last race in Oestersund (March 2021), I was told that it is impossible to throw a rifle like that. Otherwise, it’s a disqualification. I asked to explain the reason, but the IBU did not provide an answer." (tass.ru, 4 Jul 2021)

RIFLE
Often changes the colour of the rifle. Purple was made by her friend and blue by her brother. Would like to decorate it, but has not yet found a specialist. (24smi.org, 2021)

TATTOO
Has several tattoos. Received her first in 2016 after a dispute with her future husband. (24smi.org, 2021)

MASCOT
Was presented with a toy unicorn by Russian journalists at the 2019 World Championships in Oestersund, after previously joking about having her own world with unicorns in an interview. (Biathlon World Magazine, Issue 51)
