Started playing football as a child. When his parents took the children for skiing on weekends, he started cross-country skiing training in addition. For about two years he did football and skiing in parallel. When he realized that he couldn't do both at a high level, he decided for cross-country skiing. In 2014, he became interested in biathlon.
"I really enjoyed shooting and I stuck with it. ... I was convinced again that biathlon was the right choice. It's not that you just shoot this piste, shooting still adds a lot. This area is just so much more exciting for me and the spectator." (ajakirisport.ee, 27 Feb 2018)
"Summer is actually the most interesting, because then we do basically everything - cycling, running, rollerblading, gym, volleyball, football, or anything that is active and can be done outdoors. It's the charm of the sport that you can do anything." (www.piletilevi.ee, 2021)
"I just like the routine and discipline that comes with sports. On the one hand, you do the same thing - sports - but on the other hand, you will never get bored." (ajakirisport.ee, 27 Feb 2018)
