Fiancee Regina Oja (Biathlon): Represented Estonia at the past three World Championships (2019-21), with one top-30 individual finish. On World Cup podium from January 2020, finishing second in the Pokljuka single mixed relay, after finishing fourth at the 2018 European Championships. Competed at five Youth/Junior World Championships, finishing the relay fourth twice (2013-14).
Cross-country skiing: Two appearances at the Finnish National Championships (2013-14), with two top-20 results. Finished sixth in the sprint at the 2012 Finnish National Junior Championships. Competed in Scandinavian Cup and FIS-sanctioned races in Finland from 2012.
Orienteering: Two-time Junior Baltic Championship gold medallist.

His mother was involved in orienteering, so he started accompanying his mother at age three. When he started school in Elva, he took up athletics training. Coach Rein Pedaja invited him to ski training and he started cross-country skiing and biathlon at Elva Ski Club in 2006.
