Was practising mountain biking when he decided to join the local cross-country skiing club in Villard de Lans to keep in shape. Continued with both sports for eight years until he decided to solely focus on mountain biking. After failing to achieve strong, and a bout of mononucleosis, he returned to skiing, switching to biathlon at age 14. (skinordiquevillarddelans.com, 1 Mar 2015)

"I have always liked to challenge myself. I was not having much success in biathlon but I wanted to prove to myself that I can shoot." (lesportdauphinois.com, 10 Oct 2016)

:

Enjoyed training with teammate Martin Fourcade (FRA). "We've been training together for six years, I've been his biggest fan since my teenage years, so you can imagine what it was like to train with him. He taught me how strict you have to be with yourself every time you work out in order to be good. Once he said to me, 'When I run races, I forego my pleasure. The most important thing is performance.' That was the opposite of my attitude. But after this year I understand what he meant by that." (biathlonworld.com, 1 Jun 2020)

:

Winning his first World Championship pursuit title in 2020 (Antholz). "It's crazy. I knew I had everything to do well today. I did a shooting session this morning. This is the first time I have done this, on a competition day. And it ended up paying off. At the end of the race, I tried to play tactically. It's incredible."

Friend, idol and training partner Martin Fourcade (FRA), who won five Olympic biathlon gold medals and 13 World Championship titles. Jacquelin relished the moments the pair would share the podium. "He is clearly the greatest biathlete. I'm really proud to have raced with him." (biathlonworld.com, May 2021)

General Interest

OFF DAY
During the mass start at the 2021 World Championships in Pokljuka, he missed all five targets in the second prone shooting and had to complete five penalty laps. He finished in last position (30th), more than seven minutes behind the winner, and could be seen crossing the finish line in tears. It was the worst championship performance of his career and a disappointing result in an impressive championship week.

FAMILY
His great-grandfather was a track cyclist, his grandfather was a professional road cyclist and his father also attempted a career in cycling. One of his ancestors, Edmond Jacquelin, was a track cyclist and 1990 World Champion in the sprint.

In January 2018 his grandfather died, several days before he achieved his best World Cup result at the time, a fifth-place finish in the Antholz sprint. "It has been a demanding time for me with the death of my grandfather. He is certainly in my thoughts at this time." (ledauphine.com, 19 Jan 2018)
