QFM.
Sport, movies, rifle making. "My father worked at a metalworking company, and since I was little, I love making things with my hands in my father's workshop. It was after that I linked my two passions by making my own rifle stocks." (bontena.com, 5 Nov 2019; biathlonworld.com, 23 Feb 2020)

2011
Began skiing at age four, trying alpine and cross-country skiing before deciding on biathlon at age 14, following his father, brothers and cousin Boris in the sport.
Discovered biathlon after seeing the sport televised during the Salt Lake 2002 Olympic Winter Games. "This sport had me surprised with these skiers and their rifles behind their backs." (bontena.com, 5 Nov 2019; nordicmag.info, 5 Aug 2020)
"My discovery of biathlon is the crossing of two passions: the first, for cross-country skiing; the second, for craftsmanship, making objects with my own hands, including crossbows and bows. As children, we lived right next to the family carpentry workshop. There were plenty of resources there to make huts, bows, crossbows, arrows. Boris, a cousin who practised biathlon, once made me try out his rifle. I rediscovered the sensations of archery and instantly loved the sport. In parallel with my career, I carried out studies in industrial design which allow me to make my own rifle stocks." (mokaddict.com, 1 Jun 2020)
"My dream is to become the best biathlete in the world, and the title that honours him, in my opinion, is the Crystal Globe, the trophy that rewards the winner of the World Cup. I will be disappointed to be second in the world, disappointed to be a silver medallist. The real goal is the first place." (francetvinfo.fr, 28 Nov 2020)
“I did not do anything special, but I did change the position of how I was holding my rifle. I had not noticed it in the two previous years but last summer I found this problem and changed it. Then I found a good feeling on the shooting range. Shooting is not like physical training where you can do a loop and compare times. In shooting it might be this or that that is wrong, so it was good to have some one-on-one time to look at specific things.” (biathlon world, index 52/2019)
"My first win at the World Cup (Antholz 2019) was such a strong sensation. Happiness in its purest form." (bontena.com, 5 Nov 2019)
French biathletes Raphael Poiree (3x Olympic medallist and 8x world champion) and Martin Fourcade (5x Olympic gold medallist and 13x world champion). (nordicmag.info, 31 Jul 2015)
His family: "We advise, encourage and criticize one another with the openness that we reserve for our loved ones. Above all, we share the emotions. And the pleasure, always." (www.nordicmag.info, 29 Jan 2014)
“It's my life, something that suits me. You need a lot of energy on a ski but calm, concentration on the shot." (bontena.com, 5 Nov 2019)
