“Biathlon came naturally to me. I immediately liked shooting which requires concentration and finesse. I love standing shooting which appeals to our instincts. We drop the targets, we hear the noise, we smell the powder, these sensations are strong and are combined with the fact of skiing with a rifle on your back. I quickly realised that I loved everything about guns.” (L-alpage-de-molledraz, Versants No 5)

"I have a clear goal. I want to win a gold medal to become an Olympic champion. But that won't be enough for me. I want more. What matters to me is to succeed in expressing my full potential." (lexpress.fr, 29 Nov 2017)

:

First individual World Cup victory, winning the mass start at LeGrand-Bornand in December 2017. The victory occurred on her father's 48th birthday. "It was during the podium after the race. I didn't see my sister and family before the race or during and when I saw their face crying it was a very intense. I am not kind of emotional person but I just cried with them. It was very, very sweet." (IBU TV YouTube, 19 Dec 2019)

:

"I don't really have an idol among athletes, or elsewhere for that matter. But I admire a lot of personalities." (nordicmag.info, 17 Aug 2015)

General Interest

OLYMPIC GAMES
Thoughts going into her first Olympic Winter Games at PyeongChang 2018. "Obviously, I know what the Games are and I suspect there is something different, but as of yet, I haven't figured it out yet. Maybe it's because I didn't grow up worshipping the Olympics." (sport24.lefigaro.fr, Feb 2018)

COVID-19
In September 2020 there were problems with her COVID-19 test which she completed. Though testing negative, since the result was not sent to the association in time, she was not given permission to start at the French Championships. (xc-ski.de, 22 Sep 2020)

MIXED EMOTIONS
Has a lot of conflicting thoughts as she waits for a race to start. "I am so under pressure. On one end I'm very frightened by the race and really want to give all I have in my body and soul for the race, and on the other hand, I just want it to run away. So, I have stage fright sort of." (IBU TV YouTube, 19 Dec 2019)

CHILDHOOD
Middle of three sisters, Braisaz-Bouchet grew up with her parents (dairy farmers and cheesemakers), near Hauteluce and spent most of her childhood summers in a mountain hut with no running water or electricity. She emphasized that she still feels more connected to rural life than to that of an athlete. (ledauphine.com, Feb 2018)

Milestones

Won gold in the mass start at the Beijing 2022 Olympic Winter Games. Became the second French female biathlete to win an individual event at the Olympic Winter Games after Florence Baverel-Robert won the 7.5km sprint at Torino 2006.

In six World Championship appearances, she has won four medals (three in the relay). Won her only individual medal in 2019 (Oestersund), finishing third in the individual. Has only placed in the top-10 one other time, finishing fifth in the pursuit in 2017 (Hochfilzen).

Best World Cup season was in 2016/17, finishing sixth overall. Had her first podium that season (three in total), finishing second in the Pokljuka sprint, 3.5 seconds behind Laura Dahlmeier (GER). Her other top-10 overall finish was in 2019/20, finishing ninth, but she finished third overall in the individual, courtesy of her second World Cup victory in Oestersund.

Competed at two Youth/Junior World Championships (2013, 2014), with a fifth-place finish in the sprint in 2014 (Presque Isle).

National Champion in mass start (2017, 2021) and sprint (2019).
