Fiancee Desislava Stoyanova (Biathlon): Two-time Bulgarian Olympian (2014-18), with one top-60 individual finish. Seven World Championship appearances (2011-19), with a best individual finish of 37th at the 2015 sprint (Kontiolahti). Two fourth-place mixed relay finishes at the European Championships, including with Gerdzhikov in 2017. Retired in 2021.
Cross-country skiing: Competed in three Balkan Cup races in 2009 in Macedonia and Turkey. Finished second in the 15km Free at a FIS race in Vitosha (BUL).
2009 IBU Cup in Bansko (Sprint - 13th, Pursuit - DNS)
2014 World Cup in Oberhof (Sprint - 78th)
January 2021: Contracted COVID-19 for the second time during the World Cup in Oberhof. Symptoms included fever, pain in the body and throat, glaucoma and dizziness. Returned in February for the World Championships in Pokljuka.
Youth: Heart-related health issues almost ended his career.

Started alpine skiing at age four, taking up biathlon in 2004.
Followed his friends who trained in biathlon.
