Fiancee Desislava Stoyanova (Biathlon): Two-time Bulgarian Olympian (2014-18), with one top-60 individual finish. Seven World Championship appearances (2011-19), with a best individual finish of 37th at the 2015 sprint (Kontiolahti). Two fourth-place mixed relay finishes at the European Championships, including with Gerdzhikov in 2017. Retired in 2021.

Cross-country skiing: Competed in three Balkan Cup races in 2009 in Macedonia and Turkey. Finished second in the 15km Free at a FIS race in Vitosha (BUL).

January 2021: Contracted COVID-19 for the second time during the World Cup in Oberhof. Symptoms included fever, pain in the body and throat, glaucoma and dizziness. Returned in February for the World Championships in Pokljuka.

Youth: Heart-related health issues almost ended his career.

Milestones

He represented Bulgaria at World Championships since 2015 and had his best result ever individually as 21st in the individual in 2019 in Oestersund. With the men's relay, he placed 9th at he same event. In 2018, he participated in the Olympic Winter Games in PyeongChang.

After starting in the IBU Cup for several years, he had his first appearance in the World Cup in 2014. Individually he scored his first points in 2017 in Oberhof (38th in pursuit). Completed the 2018/2019 season on 74th place his best in the total score.

He had his international debut at the 2008 Biathlon Junior World Championships in Ruhpolding. Until 2013, he competed in five Youth/Junior World Championships placing in the top ten twice in 2010 and once in 2011. He also achieved excellent results at the 2013 European Championships individually on junior and in relays on senior level. He took his only medals internationally in the junior races of the Summer Biathlon World Championships in the same year, bronze in the sprint and silver in pursuit.
