Studied physical education at the Academy of Physical Education (Krakow). Completed a master's degree in physical education in which his thesis was devoted to comparative analysis of his wife's training and competition loads during preparation for the 2013 and 2015 World Championships.

Wife Krystyna Palka (Biathlon): Four-time Polish Olympian (2006-18), with a best finish of fifth in the individual at Torino 2006. World Championship silver medallist in pursuit (2013), with six individual top-10 results in 11 championship appearances. Competing at the World Cup since 2003, she has four podiums (three in individual disciplines). European Championship single mixed relay bronze medallist in 2017 with Guzik.
Brother Krzysztof Guzik (Biathlon): Competed at the 2014 European Championships and one IBU Cup stage in December 2014 (Obertilliach).
