Winning relay gold at the 2021 World Championships in Pokljuka. "I was just happy with the experience of standing alone on the last shot. I made it a little more exciting than I needed to and got a little eager. It easily happens when you have such good control of a World Cup gold. I have always said that I am a man for the last leg and wanted to go it. It's a big dream I had and I was very happy." (aftonbladet.se, 20 Feb 2021)

:

Eight-time Olympic biathlon gold medallist Ole Einar Bjoerndalen (NOR). Met Bjoerndalen at age 11 while on a vacation in Italy with his parents. He used Bjoerndalen's book, 'Ten Days - Four Golds', as an early guide. Shared his first World Cup podium with Bjoerndalen, as part of Norway's relay victory at Hochfilzen in 2012. "For me, Ole has always been 'the one and only.'" (nrk.no, 28 Nov 2013)

General Interest

COVID-19
In August 2020, he ignored travel advice and went to Lavaze, Italy, to train at a higher elevation (1800 metres above sea level.) Travelling with his girlfriend, former Norwegian junior cross-country skier, Ingvil Ahlsand, the pair wore masks everywhere, except while training. "With the race program we have ahead of us with the World Cup and the Olympics the following year, also with the strict rules we have in Norway, I felt compelled to go. I need it, and I get so much better from each hard workout in height. If I focus on biathlon, then I have to do it properly. That's why I left." (tv2.no, 29 Aug 2020)

YOUTH
Former coaches were Olympic silver medallist Dag Bjoerndalen (NOR), brother of Ole Einar Bjoerndalen (NOR), and 2006 Olympian Stian Eckhoff (NOR), brother of Tiril Eckhoff (NOR). Also, attended Norges Toppidrettsgymnas (NTG), an elite sports private secondary school, in his hometown Geilo from 2008-2011.
