Brother Nils Bjoern Olsbu (Cross-country skiing): Participated in the Vasaloppet (Vasa race) multiple times. The annual long-distance race is the oldest race in the world and is held on the first Sunday in March, requiring participants to ski 90km from the village of Salen to Mora.

Milestones

Seven-time Olympic medallist. Won three gold medals at the Beijing 2022 Olympic Winter Games - one in mixed relay, sprint, and pursuit - plus two bronze medals. She is the second female biathlete to win three gold medals at a single Games, after Darya Domracheva (BLR) in 2014.

Most successful active female biathlete at the World Championships with 11 gold and three bronze medals, sitting one gold medal behind Magdalena Neuner (GER) all-time (one gold ahead of teammate Tiril Eckhoff). Only biathlete to win seven medals at one championship (2020), and the second to win five gold medals at a single championship (after German Laura Dahlmeier in 2017).

First World Cup win was at the Nove Mesto sprint in December 2018, winning her second the next day, defeating Dorothea Wierer (ITA) by 0.2 seconds in the pursuit. Finished the 202/21 World Cup season second overall behind teammate Tiril Eckhoff, with three wins and eight podiums.

European Championship sprint gold medallist in 2014 (Nove Mesto), defeating Victoria Padial Hernandez (ESP) by 1.2 seconds. Added a bronze in the relay after finishing fourth the previous year.

Competed at one Junior World Championships (2011), with one top-10 finish.
