Brother Stian Eckhoff (Biathlon): Torino 2006 Olympian (fifth in the relay) and 2005 World relay champion. Member of the national team 1999-2009, with two individual World Cup victories (both sprint) and six in the relay. Two-time 2008 European Championships silver medallist in Nove Mesto. Norwegian women's national coach from 2014-18.

Sister Kaja Eckhoff (Biathlon): Winter Youth World Championship gold medallist, winning the individual in 2002 (Ridnaun). Competed in the IBU Cup over three seasons, with three top-10 finishes.

Fiance Aanund Lid Byggland (Cross-country skiing): Competed at the 2009 Junior World Championships (fourth in sprint), and the 2013 U23 World Championships (sixth in sprint). 2013 Norwegian Championships sprint silver medallist.

General Interest

IMPROVING VISION
Worked with an eye specialist in 2017 to help correct her eyesight, with a focus on improving her shooting. "I've just been training my eyes because I have a bit of double sight. BROTHER AND COACH

Grew up in Baerum, a suburb of Oslo. Later attended the private sports gymnasium NTG in Lillehammer.

POST-CAREER PLANS
"I don’t want to be a coach because I don’t have the ability to be patient. I think a lot about what I should do after my sporting career, but I still don’t know. Maybe I would do something on TV. Milestones

Three-time Olympian, winning three medals at the Sochi 2014 Olympic Winter Games, including the inaugural mixed relay competition, becoming the youngest Norweigan female biathlete to win Olympic gold (23 years, 274 days). Added another two medals at PyeongChang 2018. Won gold (mixed relay), silver (mass start) and bronze (pursuit) at Beijing 2022.

With 10 World Championship titles, she sits third on the all-time list behind German Magdalena Neuner (12) and teammate Marte Olsbu Roeiseland (11). With 15 total medals, she is the most successful Norwegian female, with one more than Roeiseland.

Has won the relay and mixed relay at the past three World Championships, and has only failed to medal in a relay race three times in 13 attempts. In 2021, she was on the podium in six of seven races, standing atop four times.

Won the World Cup overall Crystal Globe in 2020/21 ahead of Roeiseland, winning the small Crystal Globes in sprint and pursuit. Recorded 13 of her 26 individual career victories in 2020/21, including becoming the first biathlete to win seven consecutive sprint races. Won seven races the previous season, finishing second overall behind Dorothea Wierer (ITA), losing by seven points after a shooting error in Kontiolahti. Has World Cup victories in all seven disciplines.

Triple medallist at the 2010 Junior European Championships in Otepaeae, winning gold in the sprint and bronze medals in the pursuit and individual. Won ski patrol gold at the World Military Championships in Brusson, that same year.
