Father Timo Seppala (Biathlon): Lillehammer 1994 Olympian finishing fifth in the relay. Two World Championship appearances (1990-91), and competed on the World Cup from 1989-94, with three top-10 relay finishes.
Cross-country skiing: Competed at multiple junior and senior national championships (most recent in 2021), finishing 10th in the 10km Free in 2017.

Started skiing as a child in his home village. Began biathlon in 2008 while in high school.
