SOCHI HEARTBREAK
Though nominated to compete at the Sochi 2014 Olympic Winter Games by the German Olympic Sports Confederation (DOSB) on 23 January 2014, she was not taken with the team to the Russian Federation and had to wait at home as a reserve.

FIRST WORLD CUP WIN

Winning the mass start by 13.5 seconds, she also shot clean, hitting all 20 targets for the first time in her career. "I always dreamed of shooting four times clean and today I did it. I cannot realize it. I was so often close to the podium. I knew I could do it. Now I am on top of the podium and it is crazy.” (biathlonworld.com, 12 Mar 2018)

FAIR PLAY
In January 2017, during the women's mass start at the Oberhof World Cup, Hinz's pole broke after Lisa Theresa Hauser (AUT) unintentionally stepped on it. Hauser felt it was her mistake, so she passed her own pole to Hinz, who finished 21st (out of 30 competitors), while Hauser did not finish. Hauser was later awarded the “Fair Play Preis des Deutschen Sports” from the German Olympic Committee and German Sports Journalists Association. (biathlonworld.com, 9 Apr 2021)
