General Interest

COVID-19
Apart from social distancing, his off-season was not dramatically affected by the pandemic. “We were lucky to race almost all of the season. We do not have much going on in April or May. It is usually a nice time to meet some friends in the city and enjoy life a little bit. We could not do that, but otherwise, there were not a lot of big changes.” (biathlonworld.com, 6 Jul 2020)

POST-CAREER PLANS
Does not plan on becoming a coach after retiring. However, does want to remain involved in the sport in a voluntary capacity, preferably working with children. "I just can’t imagine that [becoming a coach]. I would like to do something completely different first." (de24.news, 11 Feb 2021)

COOKING
Passionate about cooking. Together with his father Charly, a professional chef and head cook for the 2002 German Olympic ski jumping team, they started a blog ("Doll's Kitchen"), dedicated to healthy recipes suitable for sportspeople. "As an athlete, you have to nourish yourself, eat well and you should just know what is good for you and what isn't. You just have to give your body what it needs: nutrients, fibre, and so on, and the food needs to be wholesome and balanced. That is one of the main reasons why cooking and food is really near and dear to me." (biathlonworld.com, 16 Oct 2017)
